| Mandatory Gear for HUAIRASINCHI 2012
All the material must be in good shape and with the exception of the bike, it will be checked during the race’s registration. Each participant must carry the following material throughout the whole race and must be willing to show it to any member of the organization who asks for it at any time during the race. If one or more of these materials is used in a section of the race it must be replaced at the next Transition Area (TA).
Per person:
- 1x Whistle
- 1x Head lamp
- 1x extra package of batteries for the flashlight or head lamp
- 1x Intermittent red light / Flashing red Light (placed in the backpack)
- 2x chemical light sticks (12 hours duration)
- 1x Survival blanket
- 1x Personal first-aid kit
- 1x Lighter (full)
- 1x Pocket knife
- 1x Sleeping Bag
- 1x Bivak Shelter Bag
- 1x Dry Bag of at least 10L
Per team (This material can be divided between the 4 members of the team)
- 2x Compasses
- 1x Altimeter
- 1x Signaling survival mirror
- 1x VHF Radio (provided and sealed by the organization)
- 1x Cell phone (Operator: CLARO, battery charged, with available minutes; will be sealed by the organization)
- 1x GPS (Will NOT be provided by the organization. Each team must bring their own GPS and it will be sealed by the organization)
- 1x First-aid kit for the team
- 1x 5 meters of string or thin rope
- 1x Maps (provided by the organization)
MTB
Per person:
- 1x Frontal light on the MTB or helmet
- 1x Intermittent red Light / Flashing red Light (placed on the rear part of the MTB)
- 1x MTB’s helmet (officially approved)
Per team
- 1x Repair kit (2 tire tubes, patches, sandpaper, glue, bicycle pump, tools, chain repair kit)
Ropes
Per person
- 1x Personal harness (officially approved)
- 1x Mountain helmet or MTB helmet (officially approved)
- 1x 60 cm tubular webbing, 0.5 or 1 inch wide
- 2x carabiners with safety lock
- 1x Pair of full hand leather gloves (Can be the MTB gloves)
- 1x Rappel device (figure 8, ATC, Grigri)
- 1x 1meter cord of 7mm
Kayak
Per person
- 1x Personal Lifejacket (officially approved)
- 1x MTB or river helmet (officially approved)
- 1x Whistle and pocket knife tied to the lifejacket
- 1x chemical light stick tied to the lifejacket (at night)
- 1x Intermittent red Light / Flashing red Light (placed on the lifejacket of the person behind each kayak)
First Aid Kit
Per person
- 1x roll of elastic bandage: 1.5 meters of length by 7.6 centimeters of width
- 1x roll of NON elastic gauze: 1.5 meters of length by 7.6 centimeters of width
- 5x individual packages of gauze of 7.5 x 7.5 cm to cover or clean wounds
- 5x self-adhesive dressings (small Tegaderm)
- 1x Moleskin (for blisters)
- 10x band-aids
- 1x bottle (20ml minimum) to clean wounds with saline solution, savlon, surgical shampoo or alcohol
- 1x bottle (20ml minimum) of Povidone-Iodine
- 1x pair of disposable latex gloves (they do not need to be sterile)
- 1x Sticking-plaster, adhesive tape or bandage
- 4x anti-diarrheic pills (Only Loperamida)
- 4x anti-histaminic pills (Only Loratadina)
Per team
- 2x surgical dressings (could be replaced with sanitary towel/napkin)
- 2x triangular bandages
- 10x 400mg ibuprofen pills
- 10x packages of mineral salts for oral hydration
- 10x pills or 1 dropper to purify water
- 1x scissor
- 1x 20ml sun block, minimum 30F
First Aid certification
At least 2 members of each team must present in registration a valid certificate of a regular First Aid course or higher. The team that does not have this certifications won´t be allowed to race.
(The organization reserves its right to add more mandatory material before the race if necessary)

Prohibited material during the race
- Any type of transportation different from the one established and identified for each section of the race
- Firearms
- Prohibited substances: any type of drug, alcohol and/or prohibited stimulant
- Nocturnal vision system
- Any type of communication with the support crew
- Any type of cell phone, other the one sealed by the organization
- Any type of GPS (the GPS sealed by the organization can only be opened in case of an emergency, if the seal is broken the team will be disqualified)
